Looking at the 2009 World Series matchup as the teams head into game 6.
Perhaps more than any other sport, baseball playoffs have a way of attracting even the most mildly interested fans and transporting them into an atmosphere so powerful that three months ago it would have barred no resemblance to the old favorite pastime.
With the regular season in the books and the playoffs on deck, let's look back at the flops, the surprises and the usual suspects, and of course, let's look at who will have playoff success.
At 5:07 ET Tuesday starting pitchers Rick Porcello (14-9, 4.04) and Scott Baker (15-9, 4.36) will take the mound for what is likely the biggest game of their lives. Odds favor the home team Twins in this AL Central tiebreaker but history has proven that home field will only get you so far.
When the Rockies and Dodgers throw out the first pitch tonight in Los Angeles the betting line will still favor the home side. If momentum has anything to do with it, baseball bettors may want to look at things differently.

The NFL has begun, and Sunday morning's pass by in a blur.
