Game 5 of the World Series between the Cardinals and Rangers is up against the NFL tonight as Jacksonville hosts the Baltimore Ravens. Sports bettors are the clear cut winner.

After earning a split from the first two meetings in St. Louis by virtue of a ninth inning rally in Game 2, Texas is on the verge of taking its first series lead with left-hander CJ Wilson (0-1, 4.76 ERA) on the hill vs. Cardinals righty Chris Carpenter (1-0, 3.00 ERA).
Odds at Sportsbetting.ag favor the Rangers (-130) and the total is 8 OV (-120) and as far as totals go, it looks like the "Over" (72-percent) is getting most of the action.
The Cardinals were a 12-to-1 longshot to win the World Series when the playoffs began but after their improbable run to the playoffs it’s hard to count this team out. The Rangers opened the postseason with odds of 8-to-1 behind Philadelphia and New York but few expected the pitching staff to perform at this level.
After getting lit for 16 runs on Saturday, Texas bounced back with a 4-0 shutout paced by 8.1 innings from Derek Holland. Overall the team has a 9-5 record with a 4.18 ERA, holding opponents to a .236 batting average.
MLB TRENDS
The Texas hitters are hot and the Rangers are 6-1 in their past seven playoff games as a favorite. CJ Wilson has helped the team to a 13 wins in his past 16 starts as a favorite in this price range and overall, Texas is 27-10 in the lefty’s past 37 home starts.
Behind Carpenter, the Cardinals are 10-1 against teams with a winning record in the second-half of the season holding opponents to an average of just 2.5 runs per game. St. Louis has also won nine of Carpenter’s past 11 road starts.
WEEK 7 MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL – RAVENS AT JAGS
Our Week 7 NFL Picks went 7-4-1 ATS on Sunday and Best Bets produced a win and a push. Early in the week we looked at the Ravens (-7.5) but feel the current price (-10.5) is far too high to make a play today.
Here is a Monday Night Football system showing a decent record for TD-plus road favorites straight-up in this spot but marginal results for high priced favorites:
Monday Night Football road favorites off a win are 16-4 SU and 12-8 ATS since 2006. This profile was "live" five times in 2010 and road faves went 4-1 ATS, including Titans 30-3 win at Jacksonville Week 6, but all five road faves were laying between -3 and -4.5 points.
- Average margin of victory in the four wins was 18
Of the 20 teams that fit the above profile, only four were laying more than a TD and they went 3-1 SU, 0-4 ATS
