NHL Picks: Jets vs. Rangers

Detroit and Montreal will officially close the ‘first-half’ of the season Wednesday but tonight’s lineup is loaded with 13 games and we have trends for every contest along with an Over/Under play out of New York

Tuesday is the last big hurrah for NHL betting before the All-Star break, with 26 of the league’s 30 teams in action.

NHL odds favor the home side in 11 of 13 games at Sportsbetting.com, with Vancouver and the New York Rangers priced in the 200-plus range. Dog bettors in the Big Apple may be tempted but Winnipeg is lacking two key components from the lineup.

Dustin Byfuglien (knee) hasn’t played in a month and still leads the team in power play setups (8 A) but his recovery is taking longer than expected. Evander Kane (concussion), the Jets’ top sniper (18 G, 172 SOG), sat out the last two games and there is no timetable for his return.

The Jets are 0-7 this season in the second of back-to-back road games but New York (-235, 5 OV -125) is just 10-8 this season when favored by more than -200 on the moneyline. Laying a goal and-a-half in puckline betting hasn’t been a big help, where New York is just 14-16 against the spread.

Martin Biron was a potential candidate for tonight’s game but he is out sick with the flu. With Henrik Lundqvist (21-10-4, 1.93 GAA, .936 SV) scheduled to start, look to the Over/Under betting board for your best options.

Take Winnipeg’s Team Total Under 2 (-103) or the full game Under 5 (+107) as tonight’s NHL picks.
