Friday's Euro 2012 Qualifier Betting

England v Bulgaria:

This is the first competitive match for England since their humiliating defeat by Germany at the World Cup and Fabio Capello has made some changes to his squad. Will it help the Three Lions in starting their European Championship qualifying campaign with a victory? William Hill believe that they will as they make England the 1.30 favourites to win the match, with Bulgaria available at odds of 11.00 and the draw can be backed at 5.00.

England are missing several players for this match, with Peter Crouch, Rio Ferdinand and Chelsea pairing of John Terry and Frank Lampard all out of the squad through injury. However, Capello will be confident of winning the match as goalkeeper Joe Hart has been in outstanding form this season and forwards Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent and Theo Walcott are all having excellent times of things for their clubs at the moment. Will England keep it tight at the back and get the goals up front and win the match?

Bulgaria have never won on English soil, drawing three and losing two of their five matches. They have also lost three of their last four games and their last victory came against Malta in November 2009. I can’t see them posing much of a threat for England and I feel that England will win this game by a couple of goals. As a result of this I’m backing England -1 at odds of 1.91 and Theo Walcott to score anytime at odds of 3.00 with Bet365.

Armenia v Republic of Ireland:

The Republic of Ireland look to banish the memories of failing to qualify for the World Cup by getting off to a good start in their Euro 2012 qualifiers in Armenia. Can they do so? Bet365 make the Irish the favourites at odds of 1.73, with Armenia available at 5.00 and the draw can be backed at 3.50.

Ranked thirty-sixth in the world, Ireland should have no problem in defeating Armenia, who are ranked ninety-sixth. Ireland have played four games since the controversial French goal prevented them from reaching the World Cup in South Africa and they have won two and lost two. They defeated Paraguay and Algeria, but lost to Brazil and Argentina. Armenia have lost three of their last five matches and have won two and lost two of their last four home games. They defeated Belgium and Uzbekistan, but were beaten by Spain and Iran.

Of the two sides, Ireland are the better of the two teams and Armenia are not a great team, so I expect to see a win for Ireland in this match. My money is on Ireland to win at odds of 1.73 and both sides to score at 2.10, as both teams have scored in the last four of Armenia’s home games. Both bets are with Bet365.

Lithuania v Scotland:

PaddyPower.com aren’t sure of how this match will go as they make Scotland the slight favourites at odds of 2.60, with Lithuania available at 2.75 and the draw can be backed at 3.20. How will the game turn out? Will Scotland start with the win away from home or will Lithuania inflict another away defeat on Scotland?

Scotland have lost their last five away games without scoring a single goal. They have conceded fifteen goals in those five matches, and their last away win came in Iceland two years ago. Will Scotland be able to turn around this run of terrible form on the road in Lithuania? Lithuania have lost just one of their last four home games - a 2-0 defeat v Belarus in their last match – and have won two and drawn one of the other three. Neither sides are great teams and I feel that both teams will struggle in this match, so my money is on a low scoring, possibly 0-0, draw. As a result of this I am backing the draw at odds of 3.20 and under 2.5 goals at 1.60 with Bet365.
