Federer Backed for Grand Slam in 2010

After his fantastic performance in dispensing with Andy Murray in straight sets to win the Australian Open yesterday the Swiss ace is now being backed to complete a Grand Slam this year...

Roger Federer is 12/1 with Boylesports to win all four Grand Slam titles in 2010 after bagging the first of the year with a brilliant 6-3 6-4 7-6 victory over Andy Murray in Melbourne on Sunday.

Murray far from lay down against the world No. 1 winning his fair share of points, breaking serve, breaking back when broke and claiming sets points (five) in the epic 13-11 tie-break.

But Federer, who made it four Australian Open crowns and 16 Grand Slams in all with the win but was beaten in five sets by Rafael Nadal in the 2009 final, was frequently just too good when it mattered.

Ladbrokes make Murray 1/3 to win a Slam title in his career and 11/8 to claim one this year.

Next up is the French Open where Federer is the holder but Nadal is the 4/6 favourite with Ladbrokes. Federer is at 5/2 with Juan Martin Del Potro at 4/1 and Novak Djokovic is at 7/1.Murray and Nikolay Davydenko are both 14/1 and it is 40/1 bar.

Federer is now no bigger than 13/8 with Paddy Power to win at Wimbledon with Murray eased to 4/1 by Betfred.

And Paddy Power are biggest at 5/2 about Federer triumphing in New York. Murray is10/3 and then Del Potro, the current king of Flushing Meadows, is 7/2.
