F-10: NFL Week 12 Look-ahead

Our first glance at the Week 12 card with early picks, injury updates and opening NFL odds from Sportsbetting.ag

WEEK 12 EARLY PICK – CHICAGO AT OAKLAND

The injury news making headlines Monday starts in Chicago where QB Jay Cutler is expected to miss most of the regular season with a broken thumb suffered in the 30-21 win over the San Diego Chargers.

Cutler had led his team to four-straight victories ahead of yesterday’s win and played until the fourth quarter before getting hurt while trying to make a tackle. Caleb Hanie will take over the starter’s role and Bears HC Lovie Smith said in a press conference Monday that nothing really changes for the team as far as offensive gameplanning.

"Running game, play from our quarterback position, outstanding defensive play, special teams," he said. "We've been in this situation before. So again, it's unfortunate, we don't know exactly how long Jay will be out, but while he's out the ship will keep moving."

The Bears are in the midst of a four-game run vs. teams from the AFC and Chicago has covered just one of its past five non-Conference road games (1-3-1 ATS) but in the past five years, betting the under has produced a profit-making 8-2 (80-percent) record.

Current Week 12 lines at Sportsbetting.ag for Chicago at Oakland favor the Raiders (-4.5) with a total of 41.5. Our early prediction for this contest is that defense will prevail.
Pick: Take the Under

WEEK 11 MASH REPORT

The BetRepublic.com MASH report highlights key injuries from Sunday effecting opening lines at Sportsbetting.ag

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson left the game against Oakland with what has been confirmed as a Grade 1 high ankle sprain. HC Frazier said there is also ligament damage and they are hopeful he will practice this week but that seems a bit optimistic. RB Toby Gerhart is second on the Vikings depth chart and the Vikings travel to Atlanta in Week 12 to face the Falcons. No line has been released.

Philadelphia WR DeSean Jackson was a difference maker in the Eagles 17-10 win over the Giants Sunday night but his foot and head were both injured during the process. Philly hosts New England Week 12 and Jackson’s status along with that of QB Michael Vick will be worth keeping an eye on.

Oakland WR Darius Heyward-Bey has a spine injury from a collision after making a catch but he was checked out at the hospital and travelled home with the team.

Buffalo lost CB Terrence McGee for the season against Miami and WR Donald Jones will be out 3-6 weeks with a left ankle injury. RB Fred Jackson has a sore calf but X-rays were negative as the Bills get ready for the New York Jets (-9, O/U 42).

Green Bay’s
run game took a blow when James Starks suffered a sprain to his right knee against Tampa and Detroit could have the upper hand in rushing and defense Thursday when the Packers (-6) visit. Add in the Cardinal rule of not laying more than a field goal in divisional road games and our early lean is to the Lions.

In the quarterback corner, Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck has a strained elbow in his throwing (right) elbow but will get the start if he’s able to go and breaking news out of Kansas City is that QB Matt Cassel has been placed on injured reserve following surgery to repair a broken hand. Jeremy Horn will take Cassel’s spot on the roster.
