Super Bowl Props 101

NFL bettors will argue over the value of the value of a bye week between Conference Championship Sunday and the Super Bowl but if there is one benefit, it’s the added time we all get to sort through the vast list of Super Bowl props offered at sportsbooks

Literally hundreds of props have hit the board at Sportsbetting.com, from a National Anthem Over/Under to the LeBron James vs. Rob Gronkowski comparison under Super Bowl XLVI Cross Sport Props.

One strategy is to wait until Super Bowl Saturday, usually around 7 pm ET and start sifting through the pages hoping to strike gold. A better plan is to start digging early, make notes on the props to consider and do some research, tracking NFL odds as you go.

We prefer the latter and so with sleeves rolled up, here’s the first set of findings.

QB PROPS
There are literally dozens of player-specific props listed for Tom Brady and Eli Manning and it looks like most weapons in the passing game should be healthy but keep an eye on Rob Gronkowski (ankle).

One plus-money prop to consider for Brady fans is whether or not he will throw a TD pass in the opening 15 minutes. The ‘Yes’ pays back at +220 and when playing away from home this season, New England scored more first quarter points than any other team.

PASSING YARD PROPS
Realistic options for each QB go up in 20-yard increments from 181 as high as 500 passing yards and the prices start to sky rocket once you get past the 340 yard range. The Over/Under number of 55 is the second highest total ever released for a Super Bowl and in seven games since 1994 when the total was 50 points or higher, results were just 1 over to 6 unders.

We will likely see several line moves in the next week and as the build-up toward the big game continues to grow, be sure and check Sportsbetting.com for the hundreds of prop-style bets available for Super Bowl XLVI.
