NFL PRO BOWL BETTING

AFC vs. NFC
Line: NFC -5.5
Over/Under: 74.5

A lot of sports bettors scoff at the Pro Bowl throughout the week but when Sunday finally comes, betting activity at online sportsbooks starts to pick up and today has been no different.

The NFC opened as a 4-point favorite following the Conference Championships but money has flooded in Sunday and the current number at Sportsbetting.ag is -5.5.

Pinnacle still offers the NFC -4 (-108) with a total of 73.5 but scanning the sportsbook wire, we can see 75’s at some outlets.

With a QB depth chart that reads Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Cam Newton, it’s no wonder the favorite and the over are attracting attention. The NFC players have been having fun with different schemes at practice and the mood seems even more laid back than year’s past, if that’s even possible. Hawaii is the definitely the player’s choice for locations and some have indicated that if the venue changes, they may not even participate.

OVER/UNDER NOTEBOOK
The posted total in 2011 was 62.5 and player’s made a mockery of that number, nearly cracking triple-digits in a 55-41 NFC win. The winning team has scored 38 points or more in all but three Pro Bowls in the past decade and the final score has reached a minimum of 51 points in nine of the past 11.

Average combined score during that span is 68.5 points per game and the recent Pro Bowl trend shows 10 overs and 2 unders the past 12 years.

PRO BOWL PICKS
Defenses will operate from a base 4-3 package and there can only be a max of four defensive backs on the field at all times. There’s no blitzing and no press coverage unless a defense is backed inside their own five-yard line. It sets up for a high scoring game but the year-after double-digit jump is too many points for us.
Pick: Take the Under
