New Jersey (-210) and Washington (-240) are the two big Friday favs on the hockey betting card and one of them even deserves the honor.
Toronto visits the Devils and a 2-8-1 record in their last 11 games make the Leafs a dog by default but before laying this kind of lumber don’t lose sight of the fact that New Jersey has capitalized on just one power-play in its past 26 chances.
The Capitals on the other hand have been money in the bank for bettors, going 8-0 since Jan. 13 and winning all but one game by 2-plus goals. Florida visits tonight off back-to-back home wins looking to end a four-game slide against Alex Ovechkin and his crew.
Boston is at Buffalo (-145) where Bruins forward Marc Savard (r-MCL) returns from an eight-game absence. Buffalo ended a four-game slump with a 2-1 shootout win vs. New Jersey Wednesday, the same score the Sabres lost to Boston against in the team’s most recent meeting (Nov. 20). Boston has scored two goals or less in each of its past four games and scoring should be at a premium in this contest as well.
Detroit (-165) looks for redemption after choking in the final minutes vs. Phoenix Tuesday and then getting blown out the next night in Minnesota. D-man Brad Stuart (shoulder) has been upgraded to probable and will be on the point with Nik Kronwall, who returned this week from an injury that kept him out of the lineup since Nov. 21. Nashville has taken four of the past five against Detroit including a 3-1 win at the Joe Nov. 23.
Anaheim continues its road trip in Tampa Bay (-115) and Colorado is at Dallas (-125) where the Stars will try and use home ice advantage to steal back one of their two lopsided losses at the Pepsi Center this season. The Avs have outscored Dallas 8-1 in two meetings at Colorado this year.
