19:45 – Wigan v Sunderland:
Both of these sides have come into some good form recently and Wigan can move out of the relegation zone with a win in this match, while Sunderland can move themselves into the top half of the table with victory. Who’ll take all three points? Bet365.com think that Wigan will win the match, but their odds show that they think it’ll be a close game.
Wigan odds – 2.63
Draw odds – 3.25
Sunderland odds – 2.75
After losing eight successive Premier League matches, Wigan have lost just two of their last eight matches and both of those came at home to Arsenal and away at Manchester United. In the other six games they have collected ten of their total 15 points for the season as they won away at today’s opponents and West Brom as well drawing at home to Blackburn, Chelsea and Liverpool and away at Stoke in their last game despite ending the game with just ten men. They are in fine form and full of confidence at the moment, now can they take more points in this match against a resurgent Sunderland side?
Under Martin O’Neill Sunderland have been excellent and they have taken 10 points from their five under the guidance of O’Neill thanks to three wins and a draw. They have beaten Blackburn, QPR and Manchester City as well as drawing at home to Everton. Their points total has now been increased from 11 to 21 as they have collected as many points in their last five matches as they had done in the previous 13 and Martin O’Neill has filled them with confidence and they are playing some good football. Can they ensure that Wigan do not get out of the relegation zone with a win at the DW Stadium?
Sunderland’s away record against Wigan is not good and they have not taken maximum points in a game at the DW Stadium since these sides clashed in the Championship in 2005. Wigan have won two and drawn two of their home meetings with Sunderland and after beating Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this season to see Steve Bruce removed from his position as Sunderland boss. They will be confident of getting something from this match, but we are not confident of backing any of the outright markets. However, we see goals in this match and as six of the last seven meetings between these sides have seen both of these teams find the net we are backing this pattern to continue in this game.
Betting Tips Recommendation:
Our money is on both Wigan and Sunderland to score @ 1.80.
