14:00 – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Mardy Fish:
After losing to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on the opening day of the ATP World Tour Finals, the world numbers six and eight face off looking for their first points of the tournament. Bet365.com fancy the Frenchman to defeat the American at the o2 Arena and their Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Mardy Fish odds reflect these thoughts.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga odds – 1.50
Mardy Fish odds – 2.50
Both of these players took their time to settle into their opening matches as both players were beaten 6-2 in the first set but Tsonga bounced back against Federer to win the second set 6-2 before finally succumbing 6-4 in the final set to give the Swiss legend, and pre-tournament favourite, victory. Fish also bounced back in his match against Nadal as he secured the second set 6-3 and pushed the Spaniard all the way in the final set before losing in a tie-breaker.
Both players will have taken confidence from their performances against two of the biggest names to ever grace the ATP tour and we expect this match to be a tough a gruelling battle. The first, and only, match between these two players saw Tsonga take victory at the US Open after a five set, 3 hour 45 minute confrontation. Both players are in very good form at the moment and we see this game going the distance with neither player ceding until the very end.
Betting Tips Recommendation:
Our money is on +23.5 games in the Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Mardy Fish match @ 1.83.
20:00 – Rafael Nadal v Roger Federer:
The day’s big game sees the 26th clash of the players ranked second and third in the world, but will Nadal take his 18th win or Federer his 9th? Bet365.com are leaning heavily towards a Federer victory in this match and their Rafael Nadal v Roger Federer odds are as follows:
Rafael Nadal odds – 2.75
Roger Federer odds – 1.40
Both of these players had tough first matches as they overcame Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish in three sets on the opening day of the tournament, but they will both feel that they be stronger for those difficult starts. They face a much more familiar opponent in this game and the odds are rather surprising considering that Nadal has won all three of their meetings in 2011. However, Federer will know that all three losses came early in the season, with two on Nadal’s favoured surface of clay, and that he holds the advantage of form coming into the tournament.
Nadal will still be strong and he will look to draw on the experience of beating Federer 6-3, 6-2 at the Miami Masters early this year, but we feel that this match will be more likely to go the way of their meeting at this tournament last year when Federer took victory 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 and we’re backing this game to go the distance.
Betting Tips Recommendation:
Our money is on there to be more than 2.5 sets in the Rafael Nadal v Roger Federer match @ 2.25.
